Despite the inherent resilience built into the Ultimate Host Storage Area Network, a traditional data backup is still required to mitigate the risk of catastrophic hardware failure or data loss.  A secondary SAN unit at Heathrow is backed up by a daily incremental routine using an enterprise backup solution which is based on Atempo’s Time Navigator (TiNa).

Bluetouch will carry out one full file system backup per week per client server, with 4 incremental backups per week. There is a storage limit of 100GB backed up per server without an additional charge. Applications (such as databases, Exchange server) will not be directly backed up without an additional charge levied for the application agent. Machines can also be backed up on Sat or Sun for a small additional charge. Backups are retained for 7 days as standard. Backup to tape for customer offsite retention can be done for an additional charge and with the customer supplying suitable media.

In addition, customers are permitted up to 5 partial restores per server per month (<10 GB) or 1 full restore per server per month without additional charge.
